Cautions: Although safe for children, animals, and adults, it is suggested you monitor application on children.
Note: This ointment has been designed for external trauma and is not intended to be used for internal bacterial conditions that cause ulceration, such as Cellulitis or Necrotizing Fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria). Those conditions require serious medical attention and antibiotic use.
In order to greatly reduce the risk of infections entering open wounds, cover your fingers with a zip lock bag, a plastic bag or a glove when applying. Apply directly to the open wound, allow to sit overnight. Within 8 hours new skin will appear (white thin layer) and/or vibrant new pink skin, along with pink skin surrounding open wound (normal immune reaction). If you are applying wound repair over the open wound (that has not been stitched together), you may feel slight sting during the healing process as well as see a pink color around the open skin. The stinging is a sensation that occurs when the ointment metabolizes dead skin cells or infected skin in order for new skin cell growth to occur. Your wound will continue to have white new skin layer until the wound has filled in with new skin growth. An open wound will not mend sides together (as occurs with stitches), it will fill in until completely flat again (like filling in a ditch). Apply new ointment every 6-8 hours (or before bedtime, or first thing in the morning, or after heavy labor when wound should be cleaned out – keep covered with a waterproof band aid or gauze).
See before and after pictures to understand healing process.
If being used to heal surgical incisions, it is safe to apply this ointment over stitches to assist in the healing process.
If being used for old scars, apply like a lotion 2-3 times daily directly to scar and allow for absorption.
Note: This ointment has been designed for external trauma and is not intended to be used for internal bacterial conditions that cause ulceration, such as Cellulitis or Necrotizing Fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria). Those conditions require serious medical attention and antibiotic use.
